On top of Mt. Whitney!
Got off trail to resupply in the town of Lone Pine. Taking the day to plan out our next five days and our ascent up Mt. Whitney.
There may be anther long stretch without cell service ahead. We will update when we can. 🙂
Lots of epic views again today. The high elevation is starting to take its toll on us.
Very excited to get into the mountains. Woke up today with a view of a river and the mountains, it doesn’t get much better. It is starting to cool off quite a bit. A beautiful hike today, lots of meadows and shade.
Stopped at the Kern river bridge for lunch. Pushed on to the next crossing to camp. In between went through some beautiful meadows and a burn area. Also saw a nice black bear.
Crossed the 700 mile make today! Also make it into Kennedy Meadows but our resupply package did not so we. Will stay the night.
I got a few days behind on the journal, not much memorable this day.
Did a short 3.5 to water and hung out there until the heat of the day passed. Only interruption was a bear cub looking for water and a rattle snake. Made it a few more miles after dark.
7 miles to the first water, Joshua Tree spring. A very scenic but exposed hike. Only made it a few more miles as Chris was not taking the heat well.
